A Weekend in Hunter, NY
Recently I traveled to Hunter, NY in the Hudson Valley for my youngest brother’s bachelor party. It was a great time, and we were blessed with some truly wonderful weather. Highs in the mid-60’s/70’s Fahrenheit while it was nearly 100 back home.
On trips like this, where I know I’ll be encountering some truly stunning scenery, I’m always tempted to bring a digital camera to make sure I “get the shot” and capture easily-made-great-in-post photos. And these are memories that I know I’ll love revisiting decades down the road.
But ultimately, I didn’t want to be fussing too much over photography while I was there. So I took my Canon AE-1 and a few rolls of Kentmere 400 black & white film.
The highlight of the weekend for me was visiting Suarez Family Brewery near Hudson. The brews were delicious (you can’t beat drinking a crisp, cold beer on the same site it was made), and I appreciated the team’s effort to make the space homey and welcoming. A far cry from some of the overly-pretentious or overly-rustic vibes at other breweries I’ve visited.
